MATILDE'S INFERNO II: RELOADED
2018
Dreamt up during a semester intensive at the National Theater Institute at the Eugene O'Neil Theater Center, MATILDE'S INFERNO follows lightbulb-faced puppet’s non-verbal journey through a dreamscape full of digressions, images in movement, and whimsical non-sequiturs as she pursues the sun as a romantic partner and somehow also her final form. By devising a set and characters out of unassuming found objects, and using Bunraku-style puppetry, toy theater techniques, perspective illusions, movement, and dance, we aim to stretch the representational nature of a theater space. We strive to create a world that operates outside of notions identity, sexuality, natural laws, and cause and effect. This project was most recently performed at The Tank Theater as part of their Dark Fest in 2018 in New York.
